Michigan Journal of International Affairs

Global Affairs Journal at the University of Michigan

NEWEST ISSUE

We are excited to share the Winter 2026 edition of the Michigan Journal of International Affairs! “The Coriolis Effect” is the 32nd volume of MJIA.

Across the world, leaders, institutions, ideologies, and systems evolve in unexpected ways in reaction to the global environment. Our Winter 2026 issue, “The Coriolis Effect,” explores how political, social, and economic forces are shaped and redirected by pressure, resistance, and competing interests around the globe. From AI government ministers in Albania to digital protests in Madagascar, our writers explore what emerges under competing interests and shifting global realities. Thank you for reading.

MJIA was founded as a completely student-run, undergraduate publication at the University of Michigan. Each semester, the Journal publishes opinion-based pieces on international affairs in the areas of politics, history, economics, and culture. Our writers author pieces across five different regions–Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East–and are actively involved in the entire process, from editing to final distribution.
